Bam! Wham! Kapow!

Bernhard Willhelm, Jean Paul Gaultier, and John Galliano for Christian Dior

All the superheroes (fictional and designer) are at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (the Met), and it makes for quite a meeting of the minds.

When you look at this mannequin, he morphs between Clark Kent and Superman.

This exhibit is not to be missed so get in your bat mobile or invisible plane, and head on over!

The Met carries great merchandise connected with this exhibit. A selection from the shop at the Met is below:

There are additional items (not sold online) that you should check out after you see the exhibit: assorted sterling silver and enamel necklaces and great cuffs. If I were buying the cuffs, I would get two (in two different colors to wear on each wrist a la Wonder Woman). Unfortunately, my wrists are too small for the colorful cuffs.

Is Bobby Short Wrong Too?

In response to My Favorite Love Song, my husband and friend, L, strongly felt that "You're the Top" is not a love song. To that I responded, "Well then, what kind of song is it"?

They weren't sure, but still maintained that "You're the Top" is not a love song. So I went to my friend, Google who sent me to his friend, Amazon.com, and Amazon showed me the above image. Is Bobby Short mistaken too?

Jeff Koons at the Met

This summer, the work of Jeff Koons is featured in the Roof Garden of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (the Met). The views of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline from the roof are breathtaking. The three sculptures on the roof are from his Celebration series which he began in 1993.

The first sculpture you see when you enter the roof garden is the balloon dog which takes you back to your childhood when you took delight in watching performers make toy dogs and other animals out of balloons.

Balloon Dog (Yellow), 1994-2000. High Chromium Stainless Steel with Transparent Color Coating.

The second sculpture is a gift-wrapped heart, and this has a very fantastic and romantic feel to it.

Sacred Heart (Red/Gold), 1994-2007. High Chromium Stainless Steel with Transparent Color Coating.

The third and final sculpture looks like scribbles, but it is actually Piglet (Pooh's BFF) from a coloring book, colored in by Koon's with a marker with the removal of Piglet from the composition. At first, you think you can see through this sculpture, but you later realize the surface is reflective

Coloring Book, 1997-2005. High Chromium Stainless Steel with Transparent Color Coating.

A reflection of the three sculptures in the Met's windows

You should definitely visit the Met to see this exhibit; it is whimsical and amusing!

I Heart Tom Binns

Besides the fact that his jewelry is exquisite and mischievous, I realize now why I heart Tom Binns; he collaborated on "Punk Couture" with Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McClaren, and I heart them.

In the window of Henri Bendel is, in my opinion, Tom Binns' greatest jewelry collection.

This is a "Quite Nice Necklace"!

Another eye-catcher!

I'd sure like to rock out with this!

I've never seen such gorgeous "Chaos". I hope Maxwell Smart doesn't spy this prize!

Anyone who wears this necklace will be a "Rocker"!

These feathers are fantastic!

This necklace makes me yearn for yellow!

On the third floor of Henri Bendel is the Tom Binns collection that is for sale. Don't get me wrong, it's still pretty fabulous, but it's not as Fanciful and Flamboyant.

Very Cool Safety Pin Bracelet and Glamorous Gold and Silver Bejeweled Cuff

You should check out Tom's website because there are many pieces of stunning jewelry to enjoy.

Many a Shell Can Look Quite Swell!

Issa Dresses with Shell Designs

Ring from Vivre.com

I have always loved seashells, and the search for them. Their beauty, uniqueness, and memories connected to them make them very special. I collect them while on vacation, and I even sometimes buy them. I like to wear them, and put them all over the A.P.T.

I've Got the Blues and Purples!

Photos courtesy of instyle.com

Now here are the KromStyle looks (I picked much more casual versions of these looks):
Note: All the items below are on sale at Barney's, barneys.com or net-a-porter.com.

These sweaters and blouse can be thrown over jeans, trousers, or a pencil skirt.

Either of these shirts would look superfabulous underneath this sweater coat!

Either of these tops would look becoming underneath this cardigan. Note: the cardigan has the au courant tie.

Both these blouses would look great on their own, but the cardigan adds a certain je ne sais quoi!

These jeans cover the gambit in shape and color.

These shoe/boot options take you from summer to winter.

I'm thinking these colors look perfect now and beyond into the fall and winter! And these colors look great on everyone!

The Department Store Dilemma

When you were asked, "What is your favorite Department Store"?, Bloomingdale's came in #1.

A close second was "other". I'm very curious as to what "other" is. Can you help me with this one (the department stores listed in the survey besides Bloomingdale's were Barney's, Bergdorf Goodman, Lord & Taylor, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue)?

Is Today a "Lazy Sunday"?

It is for me and my "peeps"; we're going to see Get Smart. Maybe I'll even bring some cupcakes to stave off a "snack-attack". And I'm assuming there will be a fashion report post movie!

Heidi Klum Sighting

I went to the Cornelia Day Resort yesterday to get my hair done. Who else was getting her hair done?

You guessed it, none other than Heidi Klum!

What was she wearing?

A black short sleeved top (the neckline was like the top above), two long, delicate gold chains, Joe's jeans (dark wash and straight and narrow), and shoes like the gladiators below (except Heidi's were black and higher end).

Steven by Steve Madden "Banglez"

Her look was casual, but classic like the one above, and she had the same priceless accessory - her adorable son.

If I Were Still a Kid...

While I was at Conran's last night, I spied some superfabulous stuff for kids.

...this would always be a handy excuse.

...this "Vespa" would be #1 on my list.

...this would be a nice place to sit.

...I would pretend I was a mermaid.

Arresting Aureole!

To celebrate my birthday, I met my husband for lunch at Aureole during the week while the kids were in school. There was something luxurious and self-indulgent about meeting in the afternoon on a weekday. I had never been there before although this restaurant has been here for 20 years. The ambiance of Aureole is very relaxing and pleasurable. The flower arrangements are breathtaking.

And the window treatment with a scene of butterflies is very striking.

Of course, there are iced tea refills with all the accoutrements, and excellent iced tea at that!

Everything I ordered was truly exceptional, and on your birthday, you HAVE to order dessert!

There are even beautiful flower arrangements in the ladies' room.

Plaid to Meet You

On the streets of New York, plaid shown to its full advantage!

When I was in boarding school, my roommate Sooze and I wanted to open a plaid store called "Plaid to Meet You". Everything was going to be plaid including the sidewalk outside the store. Beautiful plaid curtains, luxurious plaid sofas, and perfect plaid cookies were to await our plaid loving customers. We were going to sell plaid pajamas, plaid ball gowns, plaid loafers, plaid condoms, plaid blankets, plaid handbags, plaid swimsuits, plaid T-shirts and, of course, Scotch tape. There was no limit to what we were going to sell, as long as it was plaid and beautiful. Well, as you know I did not open that shop, but anytime I see superfabulous plaid product, I buy it!

Paul Smith scarf

Look at the flawless plaid details on my scarf!

You can use Plaid around your pad! (Burberry pillow, Old Navy pencils)

Plaid is no fad. (Blankets from Ireland and England, Burberry blanket)

It's a Plaid, Plaid world!

Plaid is for all seasons, and weather.

Burberry hats

Lola and Paul Smith hats

Even my cash loves Plaid! (Vivienne Westwood wallet)

...more Plaid around the pad.

Jim Thompson frame and Ralph Lauren box

As you see, I'm mad for Plaid! (Marc Jacobs dress and Burberry skirt)

J. Crew shoes and Comme des Garcons top

Plaid is good enough for my lad. (Barbour jacket)

I hope you will elevate the status of plaid to Superfabulous as I have! Long live Plaid!

Is Michelle Obama Stylish?

vs.

Michelle needed to choose either the belt or the necklace to make this ensemble work to its full advantage. The necklace competes with the sleekness of the belt, and makes the dress look old-fashioned. Also, the necklace and belt together shorten her torso.

Note the dramatic reveal. Well done Carla!

Way to wear a hat, gloves, handbag, and coat dress and still look thoroughly modern! and regal next to "the Queen".

Even though the shapes are simple, the clothes look luxe and fashion forward. Carla is a style star!

Michelle may have all the advantages of designer labels and access to the finest shops in Chicago, but she does not show them to their or her best advantage. My sista and I were chatting, and thought Michelle looked very Ann Taylor/Banana Republic (AT/BR) before we found out that, in fact, her clothing is very expensive and designed by some of the foremost designers around today. Don't get me wrong, you can get some great stuff at Ann Taylor and Banana Republic, but the purpose of stores like Ann Taylor and Banana Republic is to provide basic pieces or accessories to be mixed with great stuff you already have so you can make the look your own. If their looks are worn head to toe, you end up looking like a billboard for the company; the clothes are wearing you, you are not wearing the clothes. Michelle wears expensive clothing in a very AT/BR way.

The suit below is OK, nothing spectacular.

Wearing a dainty necklace over a turtleneck is tres unattractive!

These are her best looks, simple and sophisticated!

Just because you add pearls doesn't mean you will look stylish!

Below are many black looks which also don't guarantee stylishness. Look #1: cute skirt, but the t-shirt and pearls do nothing for it, Look #2: way too much going on, and again shortening her torso, Look #3: too many horizontal lines, at the neck, at the waist, above the knees, a few inches below the knees
